George C. Scott III and his son were found dead after New Bedford Police responded for a well-being check at 1643 Philips Road on Friday morning, June 2, as previously reported by Daily Voice

While officials did not release the boy's name, he was identified by the public as Dante Hazard – the son of Lisa Hazard who was reported missing in March 2019 when she was 29 years old.

Dante was found just one day after his eighth birthday, according to a post from his aunt Christina Rosas Hazard in the Let’s bring LISA HAZARD HOME! 🙏🏼 Facebook group.

"Today we celebrate you turning 8 years old," Hazard wrote in the post dated Thursday, June 1. "Just know Titi & Tio got you always, and Mommy is always with you my handsome nephew, and she loves you so much."

Scott was identified as a person of interest in Hazard's disappearance, according to authorities. He was also the son of Boston Red Sox Hall of Famer George "Boomer" Scott, MassLive reports

Authorities believe Scott killed Dante before taking his own life. Family members and friends speculate that Scott also killed Hazard and committed suicide to avoid getting caught.

"The fact he had obviously been using her phone to go on messenger and look at my messages giving us hope for years makes me sick that sick f--- did the worst thing he possibly could and now we are left with nothing or justice," Edward Pimental wrote in the group. "Worst possible outcome."

Pimental also started a petition on Change.org requesting information about alleged misconduct tied to Lisa's missing persons case.

The petition calls out three detectives with the Fall River Police Department who Pimental claims disposed of or ignored information provided by Lisa's family after she disappeared.

"It’s been over 3 years [since] her mother has died never knowing and the rest of us have been neglected," Pimental wrote. "Lisa deserves respect, dignity and justice."

Daily Voice has reached out to Fall River Police for comment. Meanwhile, a GoFundMe page has been set up to help cover the cost of Dante's funeral. People can donate by clicking here.
